About DaporijoDaporijo is a small town located in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the headquarters of the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The town of Daporijo is located at an average elevation of 600 meters above sea level.
Demography of DaporijoAccording to the 2001 census, Daporijo had a population of 15, 468. The average literacy rate is 59%. The population of Daporijo comprises of four ethnic groups, viz. Galo, Tagin, Hillmiri and Nah tribes. These tribes follow different religions as Christianity, Donyi-Polo and Animism. The significant feature of the population is the unique mix of these different tribal groups in the common place. The people are skilled in making bamboo handicrafts and colorful garments. The livelihood of the town depends mostly on weaving, handicraft making, husbandry and farming.

At a distance of 327 kms from the capital of Arunachal which is Itanagar, Daporijo is a beautiful scenic town wherefrom on can witness the suspension bridges made of bamboo and cane. These bridges are worth seeing for it is an excellent proof of the flawless craftsmanship of the people here.
There are the Sigem-Daporijo Reserve forest and Kamala Reserve forest where one can witness the rich diversified flora and fauna. Birds of different species can be seen here including migratory birds. Adventurers would love to ponder into the forest and have some lone time with themselves. Adventurous sports can also be practiced here like angling, trekking, rafting in Subansiri river amongst others.
